We will take the initiative in the battle.
Our purpose is to heal the brokenhearted by addressing the spiritual injury of trauma and to reverse its effects on these families that have already sacrificed so much for our nation.
For our Warriors who are struggling, The Battle Initiative journey begins with our intensive peer-based Legacy Program.
Through instruction, sharing of our faith in Jesus, life-skill projects and team building, we challenge our Warriors to overcome their past experiences and move forward into a life of purpose fighting for the things they are purposed to fight for.
The Solution
Our Goals
1. Eliminate suicide in the Military and First Responder communities.
2. Break the cycle of divorce in the Military and First Responder communities.
3. Develop healthy family legacies.
4. Train Warriors to be resilient in the face of everyday trials.
5. Encourage Warriors to serve and impact their communities.
Our Programs
Legacy Program
-
Our five-day, intensive peer-to-peer program is designed to help Warriors — including veterans, active service members, first responders, and their spouses — find clarity and purpose in life’s big questions. Over the course, participants confront challenges tied to the demands of military life, combat deployments, and the impacts of post-traumatic stress (PTS). (Please note: spouses attend a separate, dedicated course.)
Resilience Program
-
The Resilience Program is led by veteran team leaders who share their personal journeys to inspire and guide others. It focuses on building strength across the mind, body, spirit, and social connections, empowering active service personnel to develop resilience and thrive in every aspect of life.
After Care Program
-
The After Care Program provides ongoing support for 12–18 months following the Legacy Program. Participants receive monthly contact from their mentors, including emails and videos offering encouragement and reminders of key lessons and commitments from the course. For those seeking deeper guidance, in-depth biblical counselling is also available.
Outposts
-
Outposts are local meetings hosted by The Battle Initiative for veterans, service members, first responders, spouses, and program alumni. They provide a space for support, healing, and camaraderie, helping members connect, share, and grow together. These meetings are an important part of our After Care Program and provide accountability and support for members as they face challenges before or after attending the Legacy Program.

Clinical Study on the Effectiveness of Mighty Oaks Legacy Programs:
A 2020 study conducted by Dr. Curtis Solomon has revealed compelling insights into the effectiveness of the Mighty Oaks Legacy Program in treating Post-Traumatic Stress (PTSd). The results demonstrate that faith-based approaches significantly enhance the healing process for those suffering from trauma.
Before attending Mighty Oaks, many of our Warriors feel helpless and hopeless, often battling suicidal thoughts due to their PTSd symptoms. However, after completing our program, graduates report life-changing outcomes:
